Irreversible Damage – Abigail Shrier

Abigail Shrier.  Irreversible Damage

If there is one book that both Transmen and Gender Critical Women should read, this is it.

The author isn’t writing about an issue that she has researched, but rather first hand from interviewing a great many families, and trans teenagers herself. Combining this with the available data – She writes a sobering warning to the parents of this generation and the next.

Almost certainly what is likely to be the next scandal and probably of thalidomide proportions. It’s a book that you cannot put down once you start if you care about women and girls at all.

Providing a new perspective on “Trans Issues”, it makes one stop to think about everything you thought you knew about transitioning, especially in young people.

As a Gender Critical activist that actually believes that Trans people that suffer genuine dysphoria are losing out because of the great gender screaming bout – no its not a conversation. It became a free for all quite a while back. This is certainly a sobering account of what can be found in the US, and the UK, I believe is no different.

Are we harming our Children?

We’ve all heard the term: No child should be left behind. So how does this apply to a sudden huge increase in female to male transitions amongst children and teenagers? Some argue that the social pressures that cause trans people to suppress their identity all their lives are the same social pressures that are driving the change that is now leading in unprecedented detransition.

For many parents, particularly those with a conservative background, or religious reasons for finding homosexuality a problem, would rather have a trans child than a gay one. This has become clearer as time has passed, both to therapists and the children themselves. Gay children who find themselves in an environment where being gay is a taboo, but being Trans is a medical issue that can surgically fix a problem, find the trans route a relief to their social discomfort. Then there is social pressure either to conform or to be different. During their teen years
